Woodburn Planning for Real
What do you think of your community?
The Community Voices Programme is carrying out a Planning for Real consultation in Woodburn!
This consultation uses a giant 3D model of the community, which has been made by local community groups, to help people identify what issues exist in Woodburn. The consultation focuses on 4 key themes, Community Safety, Road Safety, Environment and Community Facilities.
People use the map by placing cards with their suggestion or problem on, on to the model, enabling them to show exactly where this issue should or does exist. The suggestion could range from the need for more youth facilities or street lighting to too much litter or vandalism.

The first event was held during the Woodburn Primary School’s Christmas Fayre and was a success; the Head teacher felt up to 200 people would have attended this, and in total 245 issues were recorded.
If you missed this event, there will be a drop-in event at the Dalkeith Community Centre on Thursday 28th February, from 3.30pm – 7.30pm. To get the community's voice heard, we need YOU to come along on the day and have your say.
This is a drop in event, open to everybody in the area, young or old. If you have 5 minutes to spare, please drop by and have a look at the model.
In addition, there will also be a youth consultation held at Dalkeith High School, which will look to get the ideas and opinions of young people living or using the facilities in the area.
An action planning event will also be held at the end of March (date and times to be confirmed). This event will bring people who participated and local organisations together to look over the issues identified and prioritise these. This will enable us to see what the most important issues to Woodburn are.
What happens to the results?
The results and priorities will be written in to a report, that will be given to everyone participating. This will also be given to the Community Planning Partners and community groups who work in Woodburn (including the Police, the NHS, Midlothian Council etc) helping them to understand local needs and prioritise their work loads.
