Who are we...
Dalkeith Community Association is a voluntary organisation that was established in 2003 following the handover of Dalkeith Community Centre from Leisure Services to Community Learning and Development.
We are a group of individuals who are representative of the user groups of Dalkeith Community Centre as well as members of the community of Dalkeith.
The organisation was set up with the following objectives:
- To advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interestof social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved.
- To advance education and in particular to promote opportunities for learning for the benefit of the general public.
In February 2004, the newly established Dalkeith Community Association applied and was successfully awarded charitable status. Having charitable status has allowed us to:
�� explore different avenues and access different sources for future funding
�� generate additional income to support community based projects
�� promote our small community grant scheme to local community groups and individuals
What we do...
The Management Committee of Dalkeith Community Association is the decision making body that meet every second Wednesday of the month to discuss:
�� Applications for Centre booking;
�� Community centre and community based activities e.g. youth and children’s work provision, adult learning provision, partnership working, etc;
�� Distribution of funding through our small community grants scheme (for more information, click here);
�� Planning and organisation of the Dalkeith Community Centre Open Day;
�� Our involvement in working with other partners in delivering local community based services
�� Achieving the maximum promotion of the Community Centre
